ABOUT MR. WOOD
Mr. Wood has been teaching at Timberline Middle School since it opened and the 2017-18 school year is his 20th year teaching.

He graduated from BYU with a major in French and also received a Master's degree from the University of Utah in French literature.

He has been interested in computer science since the 7th grade when he taught himself how to program computers from a magazine. He took some computer science in High School and in college, but only took a renewed interest in it several years ago when Utah debuted a new class (Exploring Computer Science) and started recruiting teachers to bring Computer Science to all schools in Utah.

He is now a trainer for ECS for teachers in Utah and in other states and is also a trainer for Computer Science Discoveries that in Utah is being taught as part of the Creative Coding class.

He lives with his wife and family in American Fork and is the father of three kids who are in 8th, 10th and 11th grades at Timberline and Lone Peak.
Interests and Hobbies
When I'm not working or spending time with my family, I enjoy riding my bike, watching sports on TV and listening to audio books. I like all kinds of books ranging from non-fiction to mystery and historical fiction novels.

Learning and Teaching Philosophy
We learn best what we want to learn. If you want to learn to speak French, start reading and listening to it. If you want to learn to program computers, find a free online class, sign up and start doing it. I don't like assigning homework. Spend some time with your family!
